about The School

A group of committed women social workers started Chethana Special School, Karkala, Karnataka for the mentally and physically challenged at Karkala, Udupi District of Karnataka State.

Chethana Special School started functioning from June 1, 2004 in the Shri Venkataramana Temple(SVT) school premises. The SVT School trustees were kind enough to provide a building and other facilities. From March 2006, we have incorporated our school under the new registered trust, Bharathi Seva Mandali.

We are proud to state that within a short span of few years, our school has earned an excellent reputation as a model school for the physically and the mentally challenged children

Chethana is the best school in state!!

Government of Karnataka has recognized our school as the best school in Karnataka. On 3rd November, 2010, it awarded the school Rs. 25000/- at a function at Bangalore. Correspondent Smt. Nalini received the award from Hon. Chief Minister.
- Corporation Bank Donates 5Lacs !!
  
  Recently, Corporation Bank donated Rs. 5,00,000/- for construction of School Building.
A Heartening Event!!
The Region Chairman of Lions Club International, Mr K S Upadhyaya donated an unprecedented Rs. 3 lakhs to our Organization in a function recently.
To cover as many mentally and physically challenged students of the area as possible.
- The finance should not become an impediment for admitting a student to the school. At the same time, we do not want to "fleece" parents at regular intervals with frequent demands. As we all agree, this is ethically and morally wrong
- Make the students self-sufficient and become proud and positive contributors to the society
- As a major portion of the funds is raised through donations, we have to be careful in spending the money
